Painting Our House

1) Adam and Aaron power washed the house. Among other things, we were amazed at how much gunk has been stuck in our rain gutters.

2) Next we spot-primed the house and garage. Here's Mike, Adam's dad, getting ready to work.

The porch is going to be my job. I wasn't very productive last night because I thought I could drink wine and paint at the same time. See the spot of white paint on the floor? Yeah. Don't Drink and Paint. --- This green color (the one on the bottom, although you can't see it well here) is going to be on the lower walls of the porch, on the three sides with the screen. Then the plan is to paint the floor with concrete paint, terra cotta color.

Even Monty helped out by nosing around and getting paint on his ear. And by patrolling the yard and keeping away intruders.

It's raining today. Rain early morning, the forecast says, and rain late morning, and then thunderstorms in the afternoon. Crap. Totally out of our control, of course, so why complain?---

I'm very excited to have everything painted. I'm enjoying the process so much, being with family (and Aaron and Mike know so much about painting ---) and putting hard work into something that will last. It makes for good sleep at night!

By the way, some have asked what color we're painting the house. We're keeping it the same because we like it and also because it's easier. We've just needed to cover some really bad stains and freshen the whole thing up.

So nice to hear from you Laura and what's going on with you! Wonderful the whole gang came out to help you paint your house and even Monty got, well, involved, LOL.

Don't drink and paint. Noted!

Looks like a big project, but it's one that will give you a huge sense of accomplishment! I love the color choice for your porch. I so wanted to use a color like that for our bedroom, but Josh wanted something more dramatic, so we ended up with a brighter, bluish green. It's nice, but not as calming as your porch will be. Enjoy the fruits of your labor!
