Life

My sunflowers are starting to grow - yesterday I spotted a few just out of the ground. I think it's the most amazing thing, watching life emerge from a tiny seed. I was so inspired I planted more pots of other stuff so I can watch for more sprouts. Morning Glories, Cosmos (these I receieved from a woman at the retreat I went to a few months ago), mini sunflowers and some more herbs. I started a tiny herb garden and put the pots on my kitchen windowsill: chamomile, chives, cilantro, lavender and thyme. Now I need to wait about two weeks for germination.

I think I've finally found something I really love to do, that doesn't feel at all like a chore. I've needed this. Poetry used to be that way for me until I started feeling the pressure of finishing my thesis. Hopefully, the love I'm developing for gardening, for nurturing new life, will help me realize again my love for words. --- (It had better, because the deadline is fast approaching..!)

Now, on to the vegetables!

I'm a big fan of sunflowers. I would like to take some photographs when they get big.

Woohoo! That is wonderful news Laura, getting in touch with the earth is so powerful and wonderful, I'm so glad you're enjoying it. Can't wait to hear about the veggies and excellent herb choices BTW. I got Animal, Plant, Miracle and am really enjoying it! It's really inspiring me to get my tomatoes into the ground.

Hi Laura B. - thanks for leaving a comment on my blog! I have red salvia in my garden, too. :)

I have almost all of Sarah Ban Breathnach's books. Simple Abundance is probably my most favorite. :)
