This is a quote Mom wrote out for me when things were really tough at work my first year. I had it up on the bathroom mirror for much of Adam's and my time at Gemmel (the house we rented in Bemidji) but hadn't thought of it for awhile, and Mom recently sent it again in an e-mail. On nights like this (conferences at school), when I just got home from a day that started with the alarm at five, it's good to remember:
"Thank God, every morning when you wake up, that you have something to do, which must be done whether you like it or not. Being forced to work and forced to do your best will breed in you a hundred virtues, which the idle never know."
-I'm actually not sure whose quote this is. Charles Kingsley said part of it, but I'm not sure about the other part...?!~ I can't find it, anyway. But regardless---It's a good one, I think.

Your mom, Mary Tyler Moore, and you are all wise women!
Are you all done with conferences now, or do you have another session sometime? Mine are a week from Monday, and they cover every night of the short week before "MEA" weekend. We were supposed to be done at 1:00 on Wednesday, but because of the fire at our school last week, the kids have to come to school that day. Consequently, we need to do a couple of hours of conferences that evening. I'm already tired just thinking about it!
Anyway, I hope they went (go) well!
Thinking of you,
Melissa
