Over the weekend I purchased a small book called "Everyday Positive Thinking", filled with sayings from a bunch of different people. Good thing, because today is the first day Adam and I got serious about our living room, and we were met with several quite unpleasant surprises. So far I haven't freaked out yet, which means I am making progress in my quest to become a calmer, less impulsive person. BUT. I am worried, and I feel so overwhelmed right now that I know I am balancing on that line between rational and completely bonkers. I think I'll take a walk to return a video (The Last King of Scotland --- very intense, interesting story) and then I'll feel better.
I hope the weekend was good for everyone. Adam and I went to a wedding in East Grand Forks---I'll post a picture or two once I am sure I won't have a nervous breakdown... :)

Hey, Laura B...B and I saw that movie in May. Yikes. How can people treat each other that way. I know that the doctor part was fiction, but the dictator part wasn't!
B and I are going to that country in November for three weeks! I thought it was a good thing that we already had our tickets before I saw that movie. I know it is better now, except in the North, where the rebels are fighting with the government and kidnapping young people to be in their army.
Wow---- What an incredible trip that will be! Be safe!!
So what were the unpleasant surprises? AAAGH! The suspense is killing me!!!
Remodeling projects always come with a lot of stress and many, many surprises. In the end, though, we've always experienced a great sense of satisfaction at accomplishing the tasks we've set out to do. Right now, we're pondering a landscape overhaul in our front yard. Josh also wants to redo the flooring in our kitchen eventually... alas, the money tree hasn't sprouted yet, though!
Hang in there!
Good luck. When it gets hard, go look at your stair railing, or some other completed project. It helps remind you to take one thing at a time...
I always hate those unexpected things, that make you wonder a) why is it that I wanted to do this again? b) why is it that I wanted to buy THIS house and in our case c) WHAT WERE THEY THINKING???
We just had to fix the toilet in our bathroom. Dad said if we hadn't we would have come home from D.C. to a basement full of water, because the people before hadn't installed it properly...ggrrr.
But, it is so, so worth it when it's all done - such a feeling of pride - an "I did that" moment, and it helps us take ownership in our house to make it a real home -
You'll have to pop over to my blog to see the fruits of our garden!!!
