Insomnia is good for some things...

I finished my book last night, and it's already one of my favorites---It will get a central spot on the best bookshelf (if we can ever finish the darn living room...). I know I'll end up writing too much if I even start, so I am just going to put a link to a really good site that gives info about the book, the authors, and a lot of resources for anyone who's interested in learning more about sustainable agriculture, local food buying, etc. (Plus, there are recipes :)

I think I need to read that book. I was out in my garden tonight, and I thought about a lot of what you have written, the need to grow something, and produce, to pass something down to children. My peas are growing, my tomatoes are there (not red yet) and the corn stalks looks fabulous. I have harvested Rhubarb multiple times and have made jams, cakes, jelly and more.

As I ate my first crisp, sweet, sugar snap peas the other night there was a sense of accomplishment and pride - I did that! I grew something and nurtured it, and it will nourish me. Amazing...and fulfilling!

I really believe in buying local, I just wish I could drive, I would go out to the markets around here all the time if I could.

It sounds like we both have insomnia happening Laura. You'd think my books on buying a first home would help me sleep (snore) but they get me all stressed! At least the heat has finally tapered off, what a relief.
