If you're sick of this war we're in, here's a great movie to find: The U.S. vs. John Lennon. I saw it last night and was so inspired---. It made me feel a little more hopeful about what we can do as American citizens to help stop the war, to demand to be heard. There are scenes in the movie that show thousands of Vietnam War protestors, and then there is Nixon, who was actually worried about how the anti-war movement was going to affect the White House. He was worried about John Lennon as a presence, and the Black Panthers, and everyone who joined them. Why can't we do this again? --- Even as I write this, I know there are people who would call me unpatriotic. It is a shame that the media has made so many Americans feel that the only way to love our country is to trust without question, to not even hint at the fact that something might be seriously wrong with our democracy. I do love America, but I am outraged. I really hope that I will start DOING what I can - like protesting, writing letters to senators and congresspeople, learning more about the history of our country to better understand the present, etc., etc. - instead of just complaining about it and becoming more pessimistic.
This was just going to be a short post - I told Adam it wouldn't take me two minutes to write one sentence with a link. No wonder he smiled and then began an EPIC computer game...! Anyway, in conclusion... It's a kick-ass movie.

Haha. I'm doing the same thing, and so is Jonathan. With Adam. What would we do without the intertron?
P.S. All my pictures of you and Adam with the animals at my mom's are up on flickr. This is my favorite: http://www.flickr.com/photos/natasjia/763736548/in/set-72157600734157299/

i so want to see that movie :)
i've written letters to our politicians and participated in protests here in canada and i love my country and don't at all feel like it is unpatriotic to protest the actions of my government ~ in fact, i think it is exercising my love of my country ... we have lost so many troops lately and i think that we can support our troops while disagreeing with policy ...
I don't know whether or not it was a conspiracy. I certainly wouldn't say it's impossible---. There are people who think the CIA killed him, and there's a guy (Jose Joaquin Sanjenis Perdomo) who is said by some to have been Lennon's real killer. Who knows. I think it's very interesting, though, and I want to learn more---
There are always conspiracies!!! I admire your desire (crappy rhyme!) to be active. We don't have enough of that anymore. Our culture, our country, our generation, is apathetic to what is happening in our world. And, as I speak with people, they all complain, but nobody makes a move to make a difference. We complain about gas at $3 + a gallon, yet nobody gets off the road, and gas guzzlers continue to dominate the highways. People harp about the deaths as a result of the war, but at the end of the day, the only news people watch is Paris Hilton! Blech!!! It really makes one wonder if this is what Rome looked like before it's fall.
