Five Delights of My Locale (Divining Rod #1)

If a stranger came wandering up and down my street, she might find these things quite interesting:

1) The Dairy Queen at the bottom of the hill, across the busy street, always full of people (except on this day of March, which is most definitely not, as it turns out, the new July).

2) The house with overgrown grass and old shrubs and dead trees, with signs like, "Beware of Rattlesnakes" and "Adam's Garden of Eden".

3) The two lakes, one east and one west, with a charming train track that runs along the west side.

4) The dirt road at the end of the street that serves as a shortcut to a grocery store and a pet clinic. It is intersected with the same charming train track.

5. ) On the other end of the street, the old concrete steps going up to a wire fence and an empty, grassy lot. If one sits at the top of these steps, at the height of this hill, it is possible to see the lights of downtown Bemidji.

The random stairways in random places is one of my favorite things about Bemidji.

You do live in such an interesting area don't you? I wonder how far you will be moving, will you still be able to get to the Dairy Queen? I love the old steps and what a bizarre sign about rattlesnakes. Are there rattlesnakes there?
