I'm going outside soon to work in the gardens, and water them, and then sit by the campfire that Adam's getting started. This all seems like a huge effort to me right now, ten minutes after putting Lewis to sleep, after a day that didn't allow me to sit except while breastfeeding and in the car to run some errands. But I know I will be so glad I did it, got outside into the fresh air and the dirt and smoke from the fire.
Ugh. Except that I hear Lewis so who knows now. Lewis is such an erratic sleeper. He slept through the night for about a week - such a teaser - but is now waking a few times a night again. I'm so tired but know I can't keep using that as an excuse. I believe it now, the things we hear about parents not really sleeping well until their kids have graduated. Maybe that's extreme, but....I guess it just feels right now like it could be true.
Adios.

Hang in there!
Marin has had a few nights of "all night" sleeping. Of course, all night means 8pm-5am, but we'll take it! I've learned to relish those nights for what they are--a chance to get some extra rest. Of course, I've also decided that sleep is very much like an addictive drug. The second you get a little of it, you want a whole lot more.
I hope you got to enjoy the fire.
Hugs,
Melissa
You are right about the sleep. But kids vary. My girls got me up way too many times each and every night for a long time. The boy was a gem in that regard. But....once they graduate??? well, wondering if they are back after midnight also interrupts sleep, esp when they say they'll be back, but when you wake at 3:00 am and the bed is empty, YIKES! That's were our boy got us. And you know who I mean. ha ha.
Regarding babies: my theory is that since they are growing/changing by a large percentage all the time, any schedule is bound to be short lived.
