I'm pretty excited about the day of fishing we had when Adam and I visited Cook. As you can see. It's hard to tell from the picture, but we caught sixteen walleyes --- kept fourteen, had previously cleaned two, so - there are twelve on the stringers. It was crazy fun to be out on the lake that day. I enjoy fishing anytime, just because it's great to be out on the lake, but when fish are biting non-stop (some were quite tricky teases, though - would just snack on our leeches and flee) it's fantastic.
There was also a pair of loons that a few times came SO close to our boat. I took a picture, but later they came even closer. Pelicans flew around us, too, especially after Dad cleaned a fish in the boat and threw the remains back into the lake ---- . The story that goes with that fish is amazing: I was reeling in my walleye, everything was fine, and suddenly I couldn't handle it at all ----- (I did, and am pretty proud of myself, but it was tough) - . It felt like there was more weight, like something had crashed into my fish. When we finally got the fish into the boat, we saw that it had huge gashes in its head and neck. Dad thinks a big Northern must have gotten it as I was pulling it in.
Cool. I felt sorry for the fish, though, so I'm glad Dad cleaned it right away so it wouldn't suffer.
I don't have pictures of Mom, but our time with her was wonderful, too, though sparse - she had to work the whole time.
All in all - a great trip home. I need to do it more often.
Ok. Am going to take a walk. Happy weekend, everyone.
Oh, by the way - . Thank you, my faithful readers, for your encouraging comments on my last post! I appreciate them very much.
*P.S. Check out the name of the woman who said my "daily quote" today! Funny. I almost hadn't noticed.

Glad you had a great time! I love being on the lake, nothing better!
I saw your brother at a wedding party today. I wish the music hadn't been so loud; it was SO hard to talk. My ears still hurts. [Yesterday, really. I'm up too late.}
