Snapshots

It's a good thing I have a lot of pictures for this post, because I'm feeling lately at a loss for words. That's awesome since I really should be writing my thesis right now. Anyway, here's a glimpse into my life over the past few weeks:

This is the place Mom and I went for lunch a day we were in Florida. It is the most charming little cafe I've ever been to.

Us goofing around. We really had fun that day.

Here are the three vegetable gardens. Adam and I are really working hard at them, so if they don't make it at least I will know we tried our best. I really hope they make it, though.
I planted marigolds in open spaces in each garden. I've read that they can help keep bugs away, so....we'll see. Just yesterday I was watering and found a huge hole in one of the cabbage leaves. I felt around and discovered a green caterpillar-like creature - a "cabbage moth", I later learned.
More marigolds :)

These next few pictures are from Friday/Saturday at my family's cabin. We had a really great time. My dad grilled Friday night and we all ate WAY too much. We worked pretty hard throughout the day, though - - Everybody stained the cabin before we got there, Dad mowed the lawn, Adam and I stained the deck and then washed some windows in the porch. Food tastes best after you've done something to earn it!

My uncle Joe, Dad's brother.

Grandpa and my cousin Nick. Nick ate like eleven burgers/brats that night. It was impressive but also a little frightening... :)

My cousin Jake with his Panama City Beach hat. Grandpa spends his winters in Florida, and a year ago he brought everyone a hat. We each had to put our name in one, and now they all hang on a wall in the porch at the cabin. There's a great variety, each with some sort of quality one doesn't typically find desirable (I'm just guessing here) in a cap: extreme shininess, extreme foam, extreme height. But it's fun when everyone wears one!

Adam and Matt

Sparklers!

Looking for the Great Snapping Turtle that lives in our lake and eats the fish remains. No luck that evening, but sure enough ---- it had come through the night and eaten everything near shore!

The mosquitoes were absolutely horrible ------ but it was a nice night otherwise and we had a really good time just talking around the fire. It was the perfect way to end a wonderful day together at a place that is very special to all of us. -

Please, Please, Please ---

DO CALL WHEN YOU COME!

I would love to see you guys. I'll be in Mexico the week of 7/27 - 8/6, so if it can be before or after, that'd be great!
I can not wait to get to see you!

Love to you!
Oh, and Loving the garden. I'm jealous, we just didn't get ours in this year. Too much turmoil with the job issue, then lots of cruddy weather - hopefully next year again!

You all know how to have so much fun together and are quite a clan.

Marigolds also are supposed to keep deer away so they don't eat your garden.

I was weeding yesterday and am covered in bites. Mosquitoes suck, quite literally!
