Some Fun

Last night Adam and I got dressed up a bit and went out for Mexican food. We went to T-Juans, which has been one of my favorite places for years. Then we went to the Dust & Fire reading because one of my poems was published in this year's anthology. It was such a great night! For one thing, we haven't been getting out much lately---. The weeks are so exhausting that when Friday comes, we both tend to hole up and hibernate for as long as we can. But dinner and the reading brought us a change of routine and scenery, plus some unexpected visits with people we hadn't seen in quite awhile. The reading was fantastic; it's such an honor to be included in a collection that features so many talented women. One of my favorite essays was one about breasts, by a woman I had some college classes with. She's hilarious, and self-confident, and she told of her big breasts and the horror they brought her during the teenage years....and then the "powers beyond compare" that she discovered they granted her when she reached her twenties and was able to appreciate their "draw". It was great (and there was a lot more to it than I included), and to hear her read it was even better.
Today finds me relaxing and trying to talk myself into getting some laundry done. I got a haircut, so that was something productive (it had been six months or so...), and I submitted writing of both Adam's and mine to another anthology. I'm trying to move from just talking about doing things to the actual DOING of them, so this is a start. Nothing will happen - in this case, for my desire to write - if I continue to do nothing.
I hope you're enjoying the beautiful beginning of hope-filled March!

Hey Laura!

T-Jauns!?! I am jealous! And, I would be interested to read the writing about Breasts. So true...

Also, would you be willing to post your writing that was published in that Anthology? I'd love to read it. I still have your Senior Thesis and I pull it out on occasion.

And, Finally - I too am looking forward to this hope filled March. I think seeing a robin yesterday helped!

Ah, the art of Doing! =) That was a lesson that took a long time for me to learn, but I've been quite happy since I did!

I am also jealous of T-Juan's. I am always disappointed by Boston's tex-mex. Mmmm... T-Juan's enchiladas and margueritas.........

Congrats on being published again. Keep it up! I believe in your talent!!!!!!!!!!!
