Well, now I can say I've had stitches...! Due to an unfortunate scissor incident in my classroom, I have five of them in my finger. It was purely an accident, but still scary. A student was messing around with his scissors during a project, out of his seat and opening and shutting them in the air, so after I told him to sit down and he wouldn't, I went over and held my hand out for them. I was obviously a little too close to the scissors, though, and he wasn't looking, because he closed them right on the middle top of one of my fingers. --- Anyway, so after going for a Band-Aid and quickly realizing it was futile, I'm afraid I said "shit" twice (in front of my students) before fleeing the room. At least I had the presence of mind to get somebody to cover my class, but that's about all I thought of. I don't handle blood well, and I think it has something to do with ... Well, I don't know, but I blacked out the only time I gave blood, and this time I was very close to fainting, too. And poor Adam.... The school nurse called him and said, "Come quick, it's your wife" and then something about blood, so he ran over to the middle school with visions of a paper cutter and me with one less hand. But, thankfully all is well -- I just have quite a bit of pain in my finger plus I feel a little foolish :) I'd never really been hurt before --- Never anything I needed to be rushed to a doctor about, so I panicked. Hopefully next time (hopefully there's not a next time) I'll be a little more "together" about the whole thing.
I guess that's all for now. I just had to share my bit of excitement... I guess I should be grateful for something to shake up these dreary winter days!

Goodness Laura! Next time you need to throw a little excitement into your day-- just call~ no need to go and cut yourself!! ;-)
At any rate- I don't think you need to feel foolish. I am sure MANY people would react the same way.
Feel better soon!
Sorry to hear about your run-in with the scissors! I just got a couple of new staplers (they're spring loaded like staple guns) for my desk, so I know it's just a matter of time before I've got a staple in my finger.
Feel better--and watch out for those desk supplies!

Yikes! Glad you're basically okay, though. At least the student probably won't play with scissors anymore.
Eek! I think you handled the situation just fine!

Scary! I'm glad you're all right.
