Honoring My Grandmothers

Last weekend I attended a workshop with my friend Natasha - "A Personal and Reflective Retreat" that was done by my long-time poetry teacher and thesis advisor. It was a wonderful, very refreshing experience. At the beginning of the workshop, we were each given the name of a goddess and a description of her. Here was mine: Tiamat (Sumerian/Babylonian); Goddess Mother "The Deep" (womb from whose formless body was born the Universe). The second night, we were all to bring something to share of ourselves, something that enhanced for ourselves and the other women the learning we'd been doing. I'd been thinking a lot about the women in my life, especially since we'd talked so much of The Archetypal Woman and about how incredible it is to be female. This small poster is what I brought to share, modeled after the Goddesses we all became and learned more of that weekend.
