The experiment is simple: it involves me finally using the "macro" button. It allows me to take close-ups of things that the camera wouldn't otherwise capture in such detail. I love the picture of Monty next to the towel, because you can literally see the fibers, the texture of both his face and the towel. I'm excited to keep practicing --- and to pull my manual camera out of one of the boxes still upstairs----. That way, I'll be able to more easily isolate certain images to focus on.
In other news, Adam and I are back from North Dakota. It was a very busy, emotional two days, but I'm so glad we were there to spend time with Adam's family - especially his grandpa.
Does anybody have fun weekend plans? I'm taking it easy tonight, but tomorrow I want to visit Goodwill and maybe an antique shop, then start sorting out the mess upstairs. I think it's time we finish unpacking. :)

have a beautiful weekend ~ hugs!!
I'm hosting a Christmas cookie exchange party. Hopefully that goes alright. Otherwise, we're going to try to get our Christmas photo taken so Josh can get busy crafting this year's letter. I've got papers to grade--always--and no weekend would be complete without some housework!
Enjoy your weekend, Laura!
Thank you for explaining the process Laura, love the images! Monty is especially adorable as usual.
We will find out when we're moving this coming week (hopefully). I'll be spending the weekend catching up with my husband, yay!
Thank you for your comment on my recipe writing, that was very helpful. You've got me thinking about the importance of writing about food in an accessible and comfortable way. It shouldn't be difficult. Thank you Laura!
I love doing closeups. With my current camera, I was having problems with focusing on the flower button setting. I'm able to change the metering to "spot meter" or "spot focus" or something like that rather a more general focusing, and that helped a lot.
