Adam and I have this nighttime ritual where we tell each other three good things about the day. The best times to remember to do this (--I sometimes forget) is when the day has been particularly bad. As I sat here deleting post after post because I was being too negative, I remembered the "three good things" ritual. So, here they are:
1) I was able to give the Caribou Coffee girl a gift. I barely know her, but she said she liked my string bag and said she couldn't find one, so I got the same one for her. Mom helped me out with this. She had bought me mine, so she ordered one for the girl. Anyway, it felt really good to do something nice.
2) Once I turn this computer off, I will be sitting in complete quiet. Adam is at a leadership dinner, so I have the chance for complete solitude. I don't often have this, and when I have enough time alone I am a better person for Adam---and probably for everyone else.
3) I got a nice card today from one of my co-workers. I work with really, really good people.

I saw this on Good Morning America and I read an excerpt in the current Readers Digest about this book on Gratitude. Some research has shown that emphasizing things one is grateful for is good for your health as well as causing a overall change in attitude that is noticed by others.
So keep it up! And keep reminding the rest of us!
i love the three good things ~ when my son was younger, i would have him tell me three good things from his day over dinner and it always set a wonderful tone for the evening :) thanks for reminding me :)
