A Beautiful Weekend

It's just 7:30 this morning, and already I've been awake two hours. I'm programmed now; my body is so used to five a.m., it doesn't know what to do with unlimited hours of sleep. It's not a bad thing, though, because I was able to witness the sun coming up and breathe in the cool, fresh air of a late September Saturday morning. Adam woke up first, actually, and suggested a walk. It was really a perfect way to start the day. I need to balance the checkbook :( and get some bills ready, but then I will curl up with one of the many books on our shelves I have not yet read. The Lovely Bones, I think, will be the first one I choose. I've been awful about reading lately, probably in part because I have been so tired. But unfinished books? I have several of them in a pile. I don't usually do that. So---I need a fresh start.

I am meeting my mom today in Grand Rapids. When I had braces and needed to see the orthodontist once a month, Mom and I would take half a school day and drive to Hibbing, go to the fifteen-minute appointment and then hang around for awhile (I miss Hibbing; it's dying now, thanks to a big Walmart that moved in right next to the mall. Anyway). We would usually go to Vanity because I could find shirts for $3, $4 (that usually fell apart a few weeks later, of course), and then we'd have lunch at Pizza Hut. So, today we're having a sort of re-enactment of our old orthodontist days and meeting for a girls' afternoon, and I can't wait. I'll dig out some favorite CDs and enjoy the fall colors for the hour and a half drive.

Perhaps it's obvious I'm drinking coffee....! I drink less now, so when I do have some, I definitely feel the buzz. Perfect for trying to get excited about money matters.

I hope everyone has a good Saturday!
