Friday Adam and I drove to St. Cloud to spend time with Adam's family. His sister, Jessica, ran the Earth Day Half Marathon yesterday, so we were there to cheer her on and offer moral support and celebrate her accomplishment, the checking-off of one more item on her Things To Do Before I Die list. Jessica is an incredible person, beautiful inside and out, and she is someone who inspires me to get busier in my life.

Here she is before and after the race:

Besides "Make sure to bring an umbrella along if you go to watch a marathon in case it starts hailing," here is what I learned (and re-learned) this weekend:
1. Watching people run marathons (especially 83-year-old men and fathers who cross the finish line with their daughters) makes me cry.
2. Sure enough, I don't like martinis.
3. It's not cool to wear an argyle sweater out dancing.
4. I am blessed to be part of Adam's wonderful, loving family.

Sounds like the perfect way to spend Earth Day! What a great family, you're so lucky and I am so happy you've been into your new home and making it your own.
