My Friday Adventures

I fell at least seven times today, and now I can barely stand. But, oh....how much fun the day at Buena Vista was. I'd never gone tubing, and after the first time it was like I'd done it for years. Not that it takes skill to sit in a tube and slide down a hill, but I'm not thrilled about heights or fast things. Yet......the feeling was thrilling once I got over my fear. After a quick soggy sandwich, I was back out to try skiing. I am proud to say I made it down the bunny hill AND the next "easy" one, and I have a great sense of accomplishment. But....I was absolutely terrified of the ski lift. I'd never been on one before, and that paired with the fact that I'm not thrilled about heights (and there was no bar or anything to keep me in...!) made for a very stressful ride. I had one of my students with me, and he was sweet to try to make me less afraid (though he was making fun of me, too), but of course he laughed his ass off when I didn't quite get off in time and very nearly got hit by the lift as it made its sharp turn to go back down. Lord. Skiing was the easy part. And, all bones are intact.

Adam and I went to Walmart (another daring adventure for the day) and got the necessary items to begin our spring break in style (including Subway and a video game!). We also purchased a few garbage cans so we can begin recycling, as well as compact fluorescent lightbulbs. Two of them cost nine dollars, so I can see why more people don't do this, but it's so important. If we only use these lights for four hours a day - and that's about where we're at, probably less - the bulbs will last for eight years and save some energy for our planet. Every little bit is a step in the right direction... So, worth it.

I hope all of you have had a good week. Happy Friday!

You're very courageous with your skiing! I only went once and it was a total disaster and I never tried again, you did very well and with such an open heart.
