Say Something

Today my students were passing a note around during Reading. Because they were quiet and more or less listening, I pretended I did not notice. Finally, however, the distraction became too great: The Note was being dropped, thrown, and watched like it contained some amazing, secret code to .... who knows. Halo 3. Anyway, so I finally had to take it, and I just picked it up and put it in my pocket very casually, and continued reading. I'd forgotten about it until I found it a few minutes ago. It says, "Pass Around" on one side, and on the other it says, "Say Something." Inside, a few students dared to "say something": 1) hi! and 2) hmmmmm.....poop?

It reminds me of being in middle school myself, when on several different occasions a note would get passed around that said something like, "At 11:15, everyone stand up and turn around, then sit back down." How fun. :) That's one of the reasons I ignored the note today for as long as I possibly could...... . How wonderful, in so many ways, to be a twelve-year-old!

That's why you're the teacher and I'm not: You know when not to freak out.

Oh.... to be 12 again! I remember the one where we ALL started coughing at the same time. Did you do that one? At least those jokes aren't hurtful to anyone. They're just in good fun. :)

Happy weekend, Laura!
