While I have a second I want to write an update - . We brought Monty home today and things are going well so far. Right now Lewis is in his vibrating chair and Monty is sitting in front of him on his bed, just watching him. We'll see.... . Monty is a little sedated, I have to admit (vet approved) - we wanted something to ease the transition. So I'm interested in how tomorrow will go.
My mom and brother were here last weekend, and Mom left Tuesday morning. It was absolutely wonderful to have them waiting for us when we came home from the hospital. I didn't think I wanted anyone here, actually, but since I was in so much pain (I did have to have a c-section) and just so much more overwhelmed than I'd imagined (as was Adam), it was perfect - . I miss them, but it's good to be trying to work out our own routine.
I've been tired, of course, but very much enjoying this time at home. The fatigue, though.......it's not a joke. My god.
Lewis is waking up. I'll continue to write when I can :)

Having a newborn is EXTREMELY exhausting! They aren't kidding when they say "sleep when they sleep".

Lewis looks absolutely perfect. I look forward to meeting him...hopefully at the end of the month (if you are feeling up for it!).

Love you~ let me know if there is anything I can do to help out! :)

Haha, I was going to write the same thing.. sleep when they sleep. It is so true.. I can't imagine what it is like for those people who do tons of chores when a newborn is here! Sleep keeps you functioning! I am glad it sounds like things are going well! The pictures are beautiful!!

Hi Laura - Glad your mom could be there with you for a few days. It does help to have someone who can calm and support you with the newness of an infant!

Lewis is such a doll :)

It's hard to believe, but you will get used to less sleep...keep in mind your body is trying to heal, and that takes a lot of energy too. Savor these days, though, dear...they go oh, so fast...

I found, with my first c-section, that the 7-10 day post-op mark was when I really started feeling better. Hang in there!

When we came home with Evan, Josh's comment was, "Jeez. I didn't know I was coming home with two babies!" It really was hard to manage a newborn PLUS recovery from major surgery. Sleep when you can, let folks help you as much as they're willing, and enjoy every minute with that sweet baby. Before you know it, he'll be watching Joe Mauer on TV, exclaiming that he can run faster.

Hugs to you,
Melissa

The fatigue is amazing isn't it? Rest when you can. Remember that chores will wait for later. And the only thing that you should be doing is taking care of yourself and the baby. The rest is up to Adam! :). And Lewis is perfect. He is adorable! If you need anything, let me know!
