Christmas in Cook

Adam and I had a real tree last year, for the first time, but I feel like it barely counted because it was store-bought and covered with green spray paint. This time, we have one from my parents' house. It means so, so much more. Who cares if it was kind of an ordeal to get back to Bemidji?!

And Mom and Dad know how much I love their Christmas decorations, so they got the tree earlier than they normally would, and Mom put up lights and garland and all of her special touches. It was wonderful. Matt couldn't be there, but I saw him at Thanksgiving and we're already planning a weekend when he and Sara can come stay with Adam and me. Late Christmas celebrations are fun, too ---

We're getting another storm today. I went to the grocery store early, so that we've got what we need in case we can't get back out again for awhile. The Focus is an amazing specimen of a vehicle, but.........not a winter one.

I love trees from nearby in the woods. We usually have balsam trees, sometimes spruce. They show off the ornaments so much better, plus the price is right. B calls them Charley Brown trees, but he picks good ones, so I think they are beautiful.
