SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our furnace is broken. A repair man came and lit the pilot light, and replaced a part, and then it stopped working five minutes later. He came again, lit the pilot light, and then it stopped working two minutes later.

I don't know what to do except run the water and find all of my warm clothes and gather together every single blanket we have.

I tried to tell Adam that we should make this an adventure, but he doesn't think so. Usually he's the one with the positive attitude, so I'm really unsure of what to do now.

Does anyone have any experience/advice on how often or long I should let the water run so our pipes don't freeze?

Shit.

How terrible! Our boilers didn't work at school today, and that was uncomfortable. I can't imagine not having heat at home!

What's the status of the repair? What did the guy say? We live next door to a furnace repair guy, and he's always going out to fix something... they didn't just leave you, did they???!?

As for advice, light all the candles you have--they always seem to give off quite a bit of heat around here, too. Good idea running the water, though I don't know how often or how long you should do it...

Sending WARM thoughts your way.

If you use some kind of alternative, such as a kerosene stove, please, please, please use a carbon monoxide detector!

Thank you both for your comments and advice. I hadn't even thought of candles----I'm just not thinking very clearly. And Lois---don't worry. No alternative heat source except a space heater...! I'm thankful for that, anyway.
