I might as well get started...

So I woke up to beautiful, bright sun and thought it would be the perfect day to at least try to do something with the garden. You can see how it looked before we started (the picture with Adam), and the last shows how we left it----- Improvement, but a long way to go to deep, rich soil.

Here (above) are the begonias I planted in the bed along the side of our house. I really hope they don't die---; their transplanting was a bit treacherous.

It felt so good to be outside, to be kneeling in the grass, in the dirt--- to be digging. Five minutes into it, and though I'd been cranky about something stupid, I was calm. I had to focus on pulling out roots, going as far down as I could and ripping from somewhere even deeper---It was mesmerizing, or hypnotic, or whatever you'd call it---Whatever it was, it helped me forget all of the little worries I've managed to collect. Meditation for me in gardening? That would really be nice.

Just gotta tell you - I love your garden pics. Every time I scroll through these pictures, I just think it's so YOU!!! And, you do look so happy, so calmed by working with the soil, knowing that your are growing, beginning something. Love it, and I think the braids and hat remind me of freshman year :)
