Anyone who has visited us in our new home knows that our stairway is treacherous----and as it turns out, State Farm Insurance agrees. So, we had sixty days from when we bought our house to install a railing. True to my procrastinating nature, time's up. Even though there's [major] pressure now, it felt good to wake up today and not have school work; Adam and I finished yesterday writing our learner outcomes for language arts. We spent today wandering around Home Depot (my god, that place is big and confusing to me at this stage of the home-owning journey) and then staining the lumber we found. Here is what we have in place so far:

I shouldn't be surprised (especially since Adam and I are definitely both novice construction workers), but this is a much bigger project than I had anticipated. --- However, tomorrow - bright-eyed and hopefully less cranky about the whole thing - I will pray for two things: That by evening we have a finished product, and that State Farm doesn't come knocking on our door before we are done...

Good Luck with that project! I find that not only is Home Depot (and Lowe's and Menards) massively difficult to shop, they are massively short of people to help! Hopefully that is only the case at our stores here!
Have a good one - glad you're done with your school work!
Way to go Laura! That sounds like an important project you've taken on and as far as I can tell, the railing looks great. Owning a home must come with all sorts of projects and issues.
