God has placed in my life a creature way more stubborn than I, surely to teach that stubborness is not always a good thing. My dog can whine and beg for forty-eight minutes to go for a walk, and then when I get ready and he knows I'm getting ready, suddenly he can't care less about going for a walk. I'll call for him to come, and he'll obey, but he'll stand fifteen feet away and just stand there, with this look on his face, his lip all curled up and his eyes boring into me. But I've gotten good. I can wait him out. Tonight I grabbed something to drink, sat on a stool and stared back at him for a good four minutes (really, that's a long time for a standoff with a dog), until he sauntered over and obeyed my next command - SIT - but not before he stretched, then yawned, sniffed a bit and walked a circle around my feet. Then he sat but looked at a spot on the wall like he still didn't care about going for some dumb walk.
I love this dog.

P.S. We barely ever put clothes him.

Does that shirt say "I am the grandchild"?

Um....yeah, it does. A gift from my mom. Not even ten minutes and Monty had it torn apart, so the shirt is no longer with us. :)

Wow, he is truly a character isn't he Laura? Sounds like he is also a handful.

Thank you so much for my mug! Oh it came yesterday and I was so excited, still riding high on the excitement of my birthday and it is stunning. Thank you sooooo very much! I am so happy we connected.

Monty - what a great Bass! I love the personalities that bassets have! My friend Nancy has two - Ellie and Eva. Ellie is the best dog ever!! :)
